Summary
Octopath Traveler is an RPG from Square Enix and Acquire set in the land of Orsterra, a new fictional fantasy world. As the name implies, players will travel the path of eight different characters with unique storylines and mechanics as they weave together a more extensive narrative loosely connected by the other's narrative beats. Players can choose from a healer, a mercenary, a knight, a thief, a huntress, a vengeful noblewoman, a merchant, and a teacher and switch between the storylines as they strive towards the more extraordinary final story upon completion. Gameplay is traditionally RPG turn-based combat, and unique abilities are given to each team member and their respective parties. The franchise has spun off with a mobile prequel titled Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, released in the U.S. in 2022, with a proper sequel announced at Nintendo's September 2022 Nintendo Direct.
