Summary

In Groundhog Day, Bill Murray stars as Phil Connors, a weatherman for a local Pennsylvania news station with a chip on his shoulder forced to cover the annual Groundhog Day celebration on Punxsutawney. However, when he wakes up, February 2nd has repeated itself. Despite Phil's best efforts each day, every day he wakes up and relives the same day. Not sure why it keeps happening; he attempts to escape the endless time loop by any means necessary. With no consequences for his actions, Phil continues to do whatever he wants until he realizes his life is meaningless living this way. He'll need a more positive approach if he ever wants to see February 3rd. Groundhog Day marked the end of Harold Ramis' (Caddyshack, National Lampoon's Vacation) long-time partnership with Bill Murray. He was initially slated to create and direct a third Ghostbusters film, but his version was never greenlit. Groundhog day was released in theaters on February 12 1993.
