In a recent video posted on the action star's Instagram, Stallone brought his family to visit the Rocky Balboa statue near the Philadelphia Museum of Art. "Feels like coming home... With the family," he wrote. Stallone confessed he broke into the line to visit the city's iconic landmark. "I don't get to visit Rocky very often, but when I do, it's emotional," he revealed. He then posed with his three daughters and wife, Jennifer Flavin, in front of the statue.

Stallone gained international fame for writing and starring in 1976's Rocky as the titular Italian Stallion. Following the first installment's popularity, Stallone reprised his role as Rocky Balboa in the franchise's mainline entries until 2006. In Rocky V, Stallone's eldest child Sage played his on-screen son Robert Balboa Jr. Tragically, Sage died in 2012 from coronary artery disease caused by atherosclerosis.

Since the Rocky series, Stallone starred in 2015's Creed after Rocky's brother-in-law Paulie died. Apollo Creed's son Donnie, played by Michael B. Jordan, tries to convince the former boxing champ to train him. However, Rocky is reluctant to accept the position due to his sustained brain damage from the dangerous sport. Additionally, doctors diagnose the Italian Stallion with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Despite his longtime involvement in the Rocky franchise, Stallone won't appear in the third Creed installment. The 76-year-old actor discussed his differing opinions with Jordan and producer Irwin Winkler about where the film is heading. "That’s a regretful situation because I know what it could have been. It was taken in a direction that is quite different than I would’ve taken it," Stallone said. "It’s a different philosophy -- Irwin Winkler’s and Michael B. Jordan’s. I wish them well, but I’m much more of a sentimentalist. I like my heroes getting beat up, but I just don’t want them going into that dark space. I just feel people have enough darkness."

Stallone previously butted heads with Winkler due to the announcement of the Rocky IV spinoff film Drago. On Instagram, the actor called Winkler "pathetic" and said his children were "moronic useless vultures." "By the way, I once [had] nothing but respect for Dolph [Lundgren] but he NEVER told me about what was going on behind my back with the character I created for him !!! REAL FRIENDS Are more precious than gold," Stallone wrote.

Creed III releases in theaters on March 3, 2023.
