Sylvester Stallone revealed the major requirement he has in order for another Rambo sequel to be made.

MovieWeb reported that the action star recently responded to a fan on social media who asked about a potential Rambo sequel, noting that he would only do it "as a streaming prequel or not at all."

This isn't the first time Stallone has talked about exploring the origin story of Vietnam War Veteran John Rambo. In fact,  the actor and director said last year that he "always thought of Rambo when [the character] was 16 or 17."

"I hope they can do the prequel -- he was the best person you could find," Stallone added. "He was the captain of the team; he was the most popular kid in school; super athlete. He was like Jim Thorpe, and the war is what changed him. If you saw him before, he was like the perfect guy."

The Rambo franchise kicked off in 1982 with First Blood and was followed by four additional films: Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), Rambo III (1988), Rambo (2008) and Rambo: Last Blood (2019). The latest installment, Last Blood, saw John Rambo's peaceful life suddenly interrupted when his friend's granddaughter Gabriela disappeared in Mexico. As a result, Rambo came out of retirement in order to rescue Gabriela from local cartels and start a cycle of revenge. While the film was a critical flop and earned several Razzie nominations, it brought in $91.5 million worldwide on a $50 million budget.

The Rambo franchise also spawned an animated television series, Rambo: The Force of Freedom, as well as comic books, novels, video games and a Bollywood remake. Stallone's latest comments about a potential prequel come just months after Canadian artist Ryan Villiers revealed an enormous John Rambo statue in the town of Hope, Canada. The statue sits in the exact location where Rambo: First Blood was filmed and was unveiled on Aug. 14.

In other Stallone-related news, the actor recently revealed that he will appear in James Gunn's upcoming DC film, The Suicide Squad. At the time, Stallone posted a video of himself on social media in which he explained, "I'm on my way over to do a little work with a great director, James Gunn."After Stallone leaked information about his involvement online, Gunn confirmed the news by posting a selfie with the Rambo star and writing the caption, "Always love working with my friend @TheSlyStallone & our work today on #TheSuicideSquad was no exception."

Written and directed by Gunn, The Suicide Squad stars Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Michael Rooker as Savant, Flula Borg as Javelin, David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher 2, Idris Elba as Bloodsport, Mayling NG as Mongal, Peter Capaldi as The Thinker, Alice Braga as Solsoria, Steve Agee as King Shark, Pete Davidson as Blackguard, Nathan Fillion as TDK, Sean Gunn as Weasel, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, John Cena as Peacemaker, Taika Waititi and Storm Reid.
