The third season of Syfy’s The Expanse now has a release date and an accompanying teaser trailer. The show will return to the network on April 11, continuing where Season 2 left off.

The second season of The Expanse concluded with several game-changing revelations, chief among them being that the protomolecule the main characters had worked so hard to contain was, in fact, uncontainable. With everyone vying for a piece of the evolutionary wildcard, it seems almost inevitable that war between the show’s three main factions -- Earth, Mars and the Belt -- is imminent. The teaser does little to assuage those fears.
The Expanse is an adaptation of Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck’s book series that began in 2011 with Leviathan Wakes (written under the pseudonym James S. A. Corey). The series follows the doings of politicians, activists and a small crew of miners who are all irrevocably changed by their interactions with an alien protomolecule that can completely reshape reality and break the laws of physics.
