Syfy's Chucky Series Gets a Fitting Working Title

Chucky from Childs Play

While the upcoming Child's Play cinematic reboot ramps up marketing for its June wide release, the unrelated television series based on the horror franchise has begun pre-production.

Producer Nick Antosca, creator and showrunner of the recently cancelled Syfy anthology series Channel Zero, unveiled the working title for the planned Syfy series while revealing he had been developing the show with Child's Play creator Don Mancini.

"The working title is Chucky," confirmed Antosca in an interview with Slash Film. "That could change, but that’s the working title."

A Child's Play television series was officially announced by Mancini last month, with the news that it would be completely unrelated to the upcoming big screen reboot releasing later this year. Antosca went on to explain that while the tentative working title was selected because of the wider recognition of the franchise's killer doll, it would lean more into conventional horror than the more campy sequels.

"The series is going to be closer to the tone of the first two movies in the series," Antosca continued. "It’s going to go back to a sort of classic scare.”
