Syfy Taps 'Geeks Who Drink' With Zachary Levi

Zachary Levi is bringing the trivia experience known as "Geeks Who Drink" out of the bars and into your living room.

The star of "Chuck" and the upcoming "Heroes Reborn" is executive producing and hosting the game show, which will debut July 16 on Syfy.

"Geeks Who Drink" is a pub trivia group that facilitates the game at restaurants and bars across the country. Teams of up to six people compete in two rounds. The format has been tweaked a bit for television, including the addition of celebrity team captains.

In each installment of "Geeks Who Drink," two teams of self-proclaimed "trivia geeks" battle it out in rapid-fire quizzes that cover topics from pop culture to science fiction. Each team consists of three players - a celebrity team captain and two trivia pros. After three rounds of raucous game-play and (mostly) friendly competition, the winning team will earn bragging rights, a spot on the Geeks Who Drink leaderboard and a bevy of prizes to geek out over.

"To be the executive producer and host of 'Geeks Who Drink' is an exciting opportunity to broaden my experience on both sides of the camera," Levi said in a statement. "'Geeks Who Drink' is such a fresh take on the game show genre, and something that we at The Nerd Machine believe will resonate with everyone who loves trivia and pop culture."
