Syfy is looking to expand its lineup of scripted programming with a remake of a 1960s British detective series and an adaptation of a comic book set in a hospital for superheroes.

Based on the Antarctic Press series by Joeming Dunn and Rod Espinosa, MetaDocs centers on a crack medical team that specializes in treating people, and aliens, with extraordinary abilities. Michael Chernuchin (Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent) will write the drama and executive produce with Landscape Entertainment's Bob Cooper and J.J. Jamieson, and Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, CEO of Platinum Studios, which controls the film and television rights to MetaDocs.

The cable channel also has acquired the rights to classic British detective series Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased), about a private investigator (Hopkirk) who is murdered in the line of duty but returns from the grave to help his former partner. Josh Bycel (Scrubs) and Jonathan Fener (American Dad) will write and executive produce the one-hour pilot. Howard Braunstein of Jaffe/Braunstein Entertainment will also executive produce.

Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) originally aired in the U.K. for 26 episodes between September 1969 and March 1970. The series was remade in 2000 starring comedians Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer.
