UPDATED 6:45 PM ET 4/21/2017: The now-deleted "Krypton" promo image described in the below story is unofficial, a Syfy representative has informed CBR. Additionally, the Instagram account that posted the story -- also unofficial -- has been disabled.

Original story: Just days after the first trailer for Syfy's "Krypton" leaked online earlier this week, only to be removed, the cable channel has officially released a new promo for the Superman prequel on Instagram.

Much like the earlier footage, this teaser plays up the iconic S-shaped symbol of the House of El, but focuses on the drama's premise rather than characters or plot. "What do we lose when a civilization falls?" "Game of Thrones" veteran Ian McElhinney asks in narration as fragments of the doomed planet tumble through space, only to eventually re-form as Krypton. "We lose its knowledge, its memories, legends of conquest and enduring love. It’s our good fortune one of our own survived, that you might know of us and wonder. But this is not the story of how our world died. This is the story of how we lived."

Targeted to premiere later this year, "Krypton" stars Cameron Cuffe and Georgina Campbell as Superman’s grandparents, Seg-El and Lyta Zod. They're joined by McElhinney (“Game of Thrones”) as Seg-El's grandfather Val-El, Ann Ogbomo as Lyta's mother Primus Alura Zod, Aaron Pierre as cadet Dev-Em, Rasmus Hardiker as Seg-El’s best friend and business partner Kem, Elliot Cowan as Kandor's chief magistrate Daron Vex, and Wallis Day as junior magistrate Nyssa Vex.

Set two generations before the destruction of the planet, “Krypton” follows the young Seg-El “as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.” Seg-El is “the scion of the once prosperous El family and is blessed with an intuitive brilliance for all things technical; he is now living in Krypton’s lowest caste after his family was stripped of its rank.”

"Krypton" is written by David S. Goyer and Ian Goldberg, and executive produced by Goyer and Damian Kindler, who serves as showrunner.
