Syfy released a new trailer for its month-long Halloween celebration, which will feature classic horror movies as well as some new television shows set to premiere in October.

According to Syfy, October is "the spookiest and most wonderful time of the year" for horror fans, and the trailer showcases the brutal violence of the network's two upcoming horror series -- Chucky, which is a spinoff of the iconic killer doll film franchise of the same name, and Day of the Dead, which is based on George A. Romero's classic zombie movie. It also previews the channel's new original film, Slumber Party Massacre, a reboot of the cult classic '80s slasher film of the same name.

Syfy isn't only celebrating the Halloween season by premiering new content; the channel will also be showing old-school and contemporary horror movies all month long. The trailer confirms several of the films that will air throughout October, including the original Nightmare on Elm Street and Candyman, The Sixth SenseThe Ring, the 2003 remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Boo! A Madea Halloween and multiple entries from the Saw, Chucky and Friday the 13th movie franchises.

Syfy has been teasing its new content in the days leading up to October, most recently releasing a trailer for its new Child's Play spinoff series, Chucky, which will premiere on Oct. 12. Executive produced and showrun by franchise creator Don Mancini, the trailer teased the return of several familiar faces (and voices), such as Brad Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, Fiona Dourif, Alex Vincent and Christine Elise. On top of that, Romero's 10-episode Day of the Dead series will finally premiere a few days later on Oct. 15 after being announced in 2020.

The network also recently announced the release date for its contemporary reboot of Slumber Party Massacre with a 30-second teaser trailer. Written by Suzanne Keilly and directed by Danishka Esterhazy, the film will put a modern twist on Rita Mae Brown, Amy Holden Jones and Roger Corman's The Slumber Party Massacre from 1982. The film debuts on Syfy on Oct. 16.
