At Comic-Con@Home, Syfy revealed the first trailer for the upcoming Day of the Dead series.

"What's the one thing we all have in common? We all die," viewers hear. The explosive trailer teases lots of zombie action, a brutal wedding and "quite a f***ing day." As the clip says, "Nothing brings a town together like zombies." The trailer ends by revealing that Day of the Dead premieres in October.

Part of George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead series, Day of the Dead takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where zombies drastically outnumber the living. The film centers on a group of scientists and soldiers barricaded in an underground facility in the Everglades while desperately seeking a cure for the affliction. Ultimately, only three members of the main group survive by flying a helicopter to a deserted island.

As for the Day of the Dead series -- which was given a 10-episode order in 2020 -- it's been described as "the intense story of six strangers trying to survive the first 24 hours of an undead invasion."

Although Day of the Dead was the poorest of the initial three Romero zombie films from a critics standpoint, it faired well financially, not due to its box office ($5 million worldwide on a $3.5 million budget) but its VHS, DVD and Blu-ray releases, which brought in over $30 million.
