Longtime Child's Play writer and director Don Mancini has shared some exciting news about the upcoming Chucky TV series."This is no April Fools' joke. #CHUCKY the series is officially in production and coming to @USA_Network and @SYFY this fall. If you can't wait that long…catch the Chucky movie marathon airing ALL DAY today on SYFY!," Mancini wrote on his Twitter page. The post's teaser then revealed that Chucky's pilot title will be "Death By Misadventure," with Mancini's name listed as director, executive producer and writer of the episode's script, before concluding with a voiceover of Chucky's iconic quote "You just can't keep a good guy down."RELATED: Texas Actually Issued a Real Amber Alert for Child's Play's Chucky

Chucky will see the return of not only Brad Dourif as Chucky, but also Jennifer Tilly as Chucky's bride Tiffany Valentine and Fiona Dourif as Nica Pierce, who previously starred in the VOD Child's Play sequels Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky. No announcement has been made on whether Alex Vincent, who played the franchise's original protagonist Andy Barclay and also appeared in Cult of Chucky, will reprise his role as well.

The original Child's Play centered on the violent misadventures of Chucky, a "Good Guy" doll given to young Andy whose body was secretly possessed by serial killer Charles Lee Ray. While the first three films regularly pitted Chucky against Andy, later sequels would pair the villain up with Tiffany, whose soul he also transferred into a doll as a means of revenge, and reveal his personal connection to Nica's family. A reboot of Child's Play was released in 2019 starring Gabriel Bateman, Aubrey Plaza and Mark Hamill as the voice of Chucky, but Mancini was not involved with that film's production.
