The popular anime/manga series Sword Art Online is been adapted into a variety of media, including a popular Japanese mobile game which is officially coming to North America for the first time.

With the American title Sword Art Online: Alicization Rising Steel, the mobile game allows players to revisit the classic story in RPG battles, with animation directly inspired by the anime series. Bandai Namco has released a teaser trailer for the North American release after its original release in Japan last year.

In order to build anticipation, Bandai has a pre-registration system for the game on its official Facebook page, with the more players that pre-register the game leading to those that pre-register receiving increasingly valuable in-game rewards.

Sword Art Online was created as a light novel series by Reki Kawahara and apec in 2002, which was later adapted into an anime series in 2012. The franchise takes place in the near-future with players trapped in an immersive virtual reality game as they search the various virtual worlds for a way back to the real world.

Sword Art Online: Alicization Rising Steel is developed by Bandai Namco. It will be available for iOS and Android devices in North America for the first time at a later date.
