The popular anime franchise Sword Art Online is getting a new home console-based video game and Bandai Namco has released an extensive look at behind-the-scenes materials from the upcoming adaptation.

Titled Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris, the trailer provides cutscene and gameplay footage interspersed with concept art and storyboards from the action sequences. Similarly, new images from the game have also been released at this year's Tokyo Game Show displaying the characters battling Alice.

The upcoming title is not be confused for the mobile game Sword Art Online Alicization Rising Steel previously announced by Bandai Namco for a North American release on iOS and Android devices.

Created by Reki Kawahara and apec in 2002, Sword Art Online began as a series of light novels in Japan before being adapted into a popular anime series. The franchise follows users trapped in an online virtual reality game that must join together to battle their way back out into the real world.

Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris is developed by Bandai Namco. It is scheduled to be released on PlayStation 4 , Xbox One and PC at a later date.
