An official preview for next week's S.W.O.R.D. #2 may tease the return of the adult version of the Marvel Comics mutant Cable.

While Kid Cable -- a younger, alternate version of the character who took over after the original was killed off -- already plays a role in S.W.O.R.D., a one-page preview for issue #2 released by Marvel appears to feature the adult version of Cable lurking in the shadows. A figure is seen sporting what appears to be a torn cloak, a cybernetic left arm and, weapons on their person and, most interestingly, a glowing eye. It should be noted that adult Cable has already appeared in Marvel's solo Cable series, which stars Kid Cable.

The mysterious character's distinguishable traits combined with their large stature certainly make them resemble adult Cable. That said, the character also speaks in red word bubbles, which is uncharacteristic of Cable. Moreover, their glowing eye is purple, while Cable's is usually yellow. However, it should also be noted that S.W.O.R.D. #2 ties into Marvel's ongoing King in Black event. So, whether or not this character is, in fact, adult Cable, it seems safe to assume they're under Knull's influence. At any rate, fans will simply have to wait for the issue to drop to see what exactly it has in store.

Per the official synopsis for S.W.O.R.D. #2,
