The cast of DC Universe's original program Swamp Thing continues to grow and a cast member from Jonathan Hensleigh's 2004 The Punisher is the latest to become a part of it.

Deadline reports Will Patton will play Avery Sunderland in the upcoming horror drama, which will begin streaming sometime in 2019. Avery is the President and CEO of Sunderland Corp., the company linked to Alec Holland and the research that turns him into Swamp Thing.

Sunderland will pass himself off as a benevolent benefactor to his hometown in the swampy areas of Louisiana, but he really wants to exploit the swamp and its power for profit.

Patton will play Sunderland as a lead opposite Crystal Reed, who stars as Abby Arcane. The cast also includes Jeryll Prescott as Madame Xanadu, Virginia Madsen as Avery's wife Maria and Maria Sten as Liz Tremayne. The role of Alec (Alex in the show) has not been cast, but Derek Mears will take on duties as Alec's swamp creature form.

There's no word yet either if Abby's infamous uncle, Anton, will make an appearance at some point.

Patton played Quentin Glass in The Punisher, Howard Saint's (John Travolta) chief bodyguard and enforcer. Saint later killed Quentin in a jealous rage over an alleged affair with his wife, a deception orchestrated by Frank Castle. This year, Patton starred in Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis; his TV credits include Falling Skies, The Good Wife and Shots Fired.

Over the years, the veteran character actor has starred in cult favorite movies such as The Mothman Prophecies with Richard Gere and The Fourth Kind alongside Milla Jovovich.

Swamp Thing is based on characters created by Len Wein and the late Bernie Wrightson. The show is produced by James Wan and his production firm Atomic Monster in conjunction with Warner Bros. Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman write and co-executive produce with Wan and Len Wiseman, who will direct.
