The impressive viewership for Swamp Thing on The CW has shown that there's still life in the series.

The pilot episode aired on the network Tuesday, Oct. 6, with 1.1 million viewers and a 0.2 rating, the network's best ratings since the premiere of Stargirl on May 19. It also gave The CW the best 90-minute period since Feb. 4, which was back when new episodes of its Arrowverse lineup were airing.

The production of many CW shows were affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, causing the seasons of those shows to end prematurely. Shows like The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow will not return until 2021, leaving a notable gap in the CW's programming schedule.

Many fans were surprised when Swamp Thing was canceled after its first episode on the DC Universe streaming service, but regained hope for the series when it was announced that The CW would start airing the show in October. It should be noted that as of yet, no plans for Season 2 have been announced.

Airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW,  Swamp Thing stars Crystal Reed, Andy Bean, Derek Mears, Jennifer Beals, Henderson Wade, Will Patton, Virginia Madsen, Jeryl Prescott and Kevin Durand. The entire series is currently available to stream on the DC Universe service.
