Underworld director Len Wiseman might be headed to DC Universe.

According to SplashReport, Wiseman is set to direct the pilot for DC Universe's Swamp Thing series. This comes after an initial report suggested Aquaman director James Wan, who will serve as executive producer on the series, would helm the pilot episode alongside Buffy the Vampire vet Deran Sarafian.

While Wiseman only directed the first installment of the Underworld series, he did serve as an executive producer on the remaining installments. Since helming Underworld, the director has gone on to direct the Total Recall remake starring Colin Farrell, as well as episodes of Lucifer and The Gifted.

Swamp Thing will focus on Abby Arcane, who -- as part of her work for the Center for Disease Control -- returns to her home of Houma, Louisiana to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus dubbed the Houma Flu. While conducting her research, Abby will find herself connecting with Sunderland Corporation researcher Alec Holland, who ends up undergoing a strange transformation into a swamp-based creature with abilities he could never imagine.

Casting has yet to be announced for the series. However, it's expected that production will kick off this fall in Wilmington, NC, indicating official news can't be too far off now.

Executive produced by James Wan, Mark Verheiden, Gary Dauberman and Michael Clear, Swamp Thing will join Titans, Young Justice: Outsiders, Harley Quinn and Metropolis on the DC Universe service, which will officially launch later this year with Titans. Swamp Thing will arrive on the service in 2019.
