Swamp Thing star Ian Ziering is ready to return as David "Blue Devil" Cassidy in any way, shape or form. Speaking to CBR, Ziering revealed he is game for more Swamp Thing, but he is just as interested in exploring the character in his own spinoff series.

Asked if he would return to play Blue Devil if Swamp Thing was renewed for a second season, Ziering told CBR, "Whether my character is in the universe of Swamp Thing, it would be a blessing, because I would get to work with such amazing people. I really care about these actors. We were all in it to win it. Everyone came to set prepared. There were no primadonnas. There was no arrogance. It was all, 'Hey man, grab the rope. Get your back into it and let's tow this mother,' and everybody gave it 110%."

"It was unbelievable! I've never in my entire career worked with a group of people both in front of the camera and behind and in the writing room and producers, everybody was so committed to creating quality content on a level that's never before seen," he continued. "I've never, ever seen that before. It would be unbelievable to continue with Swamp Thing."

"But then also, it would be great to see what would happen in a Blue Devil universe," he added. "I would hope that I'd be able to work with some of the same people, that there would be crossovers, but I don't know! There's a huge cliffhanger, and ultimately, it's the fan nation -- it's the fan universe -- that's going to dictate what ultimately happens with not just Swamp Thing, but with the Blue Devil."

Swamp Thing debuted on Warner Bros.' DC Universe streaming service in 2019, only to be canceled a few weeks into its first season despite its critical praise. What's more, this news came after the series was suddenly ordered to halt production, cutting the show's original 13 episode order down to 10. Nevertheless, The CW picked up broadcast rights to the series in May with the intention to re-air the show in place of the network's regular programming, which was delayed by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Taking place in Marais, Louisiana, Swamp Thing followed Abby as she returned home on assignment from the CDC. There, she encountered a bizarre illness that seemed to emerge from the swamp. After biologist Alec Holland is killed while conducting research, she finds something far more dangerous than a disease: a twisted conspiracy, a dark sentience within the wilderness and an impossible creature made of plant-life that seems to be drawn to her.

Swamp Thing stars Crystal Reed, Andy Bean, Derek Mears, Jennifer Beals, Henderson Wade, Will Patton, Virginia Madsen, Jeryl Prescott and Kevin Durand. The entire series is currently available to stream on the DC Universe service and premieres on The CW on Oct. 6.
