Shortly following the announcement that Gotham alum Crystal Reed would be playing the character of Abby Arcane in DC Universe's upcoming Swamp Thing series, it has now been confirmed that actress Maria Sten (Straight Outta Compton, Channel Zero) will be playing the role of Elizabeth "Liz" Tremayne, journalist and a childhood friend of Abby's.

First appearing in 1982's Swamp Thing #3, Liz has made a name for herself as an ally to both Abby Arcane and Swamp Thing (and, by extension, the likes of Matt Cable). Liz also uncovered key evidence in the murders of Alec and Linda Holland in the issue. Additionally, Liz has also had her fair share of personal trauma and tragedy to fight through.

The DC Universe original series will seemingly delve into Liz's humble beginnings, as we will see her bartending at her father's roadhouse bar when she's not writing for the local paper. Nevertheless, Liz appears to be as bound and determined as ever and is dead-set on getting to the bottom of the mysteries that threaten her hometown.
