Following the Swamp Thing finale, artist Jerad Marantaz shared conceptual pieces from his work on the DC Universe series featuring Floronic Man, one of Swamp Thing's most iconic villains.

Marantaz worked with Fractured FX INC, a manufacturer for monster effects, props and makeup. He was part of the primary effects team for the short-lived TV series.

"I was absolutely blown away by the work Fractured FX did on this project and so grateful to Justin [of Fractured FX Inc] for bringing me on board," Marantaz wrote. "Floronic Man was a great assignment, having to design a character that was the opposite of Swamp Thing was a challenge. We went dry and dead with him and stayed in the yellows."

Floronic Man, also known as Plant Master or Jason Woodrue, is an outcast from an alternate dimension inhabited by perennial humanoids. His abilities include an advanced understanding of botany and the power to control plant life. Although originally appearing as a villain for the Atom, Floronic Man is better known now for the role he played in Alan Moore, Steve Bissette and John Totleben's classic Swamp Thing run. He is the instigator of the revelation that drives Moore's entire take on the character and even almost destroyed the world upon hijacking a connection to the Green by eating the fruits on Swamp Thing's body.

The Floronic Man makes a brief appearance in the recently-canceled DC Universe series during an after-credit teaser. In the scene, Dr. Woodrue makes the transformation into his villainous alter ego. Despite the ambiguity about the future of Swamp Thing as a television property, fans can still enjoy a glimpse into his slick and slimy world.

Swamp Thing chronicles the life of a botanist transformed into a human avatar of all the plant life on Earth and his long quest to regain his humanity as he defends the world from supernatural threats. Available now on DC Universe, the series stars Crystal Reed, Andy Bean, Derek Mears, Jennifer Beals, Henderson Wade, Will Patton, Virginia Madsen, Jeryl Prescott and Kevin Durand.
