Suydam artwork emblazons NYC Comic Con Inaugural Poster

Official Press Release

Marvel Zombie cover artist Arthur Suydam will be appearing at the inaugural NYC
Comic Con to sign the first ever NYCC poster, which will feature his blazing
rendition of Ghost Rider. The show runs from February 24-26 at the Javits Center in

According to Reed Expos’ Kelly Hartman, the fist 200 fans entering New York
Comic-Con on Friday starting at 4PM, on Saturday at 11AM, and Sunday at 11AM will
receive a New York Comic-Con poster, painted by artist Arthur Suydam. The first 150
professionals entering the con on Friday during professional hours will also receive
the poster.

Taking a break from his music career, Suydam is on the comic scene in a big way this
year, having in 2005 alone, received the Artist Guest of Honor Award from Dragon
Con, and Lifetime Achievement Awards from both the University of Maryland and the
prestigious San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain. His painting, When Giants Walk the
Earth was selected for the coveted Spectrum Magazine Gold Medal for artistic
excellence, and Arthur has also just been honored with an induction into the august
Society of Illustrators in Manhattan.

His work is currently on the shelves with Cholly and Flytrap from Image Comics, as
well as those aforementioned phenomenally outrageous covers on the hit Marvel Zombie
series named in the Wizard Magazine top ten covers– as well as his other recent
superhero work for Marvel, Image and DC comics. His graphic novel The Art of the
Barbarian made the Top 100 list for sales in 2005.

His newest releases include, The Fantastic Art of Arthur Suydam from Vanguard
Productions and The Art of the Barbarian Deluxe Edition from Heavy Metal/Eva Ink.
These books feature abundant pages of full color and sepia Suydam artwork
chronicling his entire career from beginning to almost just yesterday, fittings
tributes to this writer/creator/artist, whose over-riding passion has undoubtedly
been creating stories, characters and memorable moments in a wide range of fiction
via either his words, his art, or sublimely, both.

Suydam will be on hand to sign at the Heavy Metal, Vanguard and at Heroic Fine Art
booths and in Artists Alley throughout the show.
