Before there was Jax Teller, there was his father John. And before there was Clay Morrow, there was … well, there was still Clay Morrow, and we understand he was still kind of a murdering back-stabber.

These characters and more could get their own time in the spotlight with a Sons of Anarchy prequel series. Creator Kurt Sutter has made it clear he's interested in exploring the formation of the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Redwood Original. Just don't expect to see that series until the original run of Sons revs down for good.

"Right now, it is just conversations," Sutter said this weekend at the Produced By Conference in Los Angeles. "I want to let the property rest for a year or so after Sons is over before jumping in."

Sutter added that he's not sure exactly what format his Sons prequel would be best-suited for. "I don't know if it will be a series or a limited series of say 10 to 13 episodes," the showrunner said. "I don't want to do it as a movie — tonally, I don't see it as a movie."
