The hierarchy of power in DC League of Super-Pets gets two additions with Black Adam and his antihero dog, Anubis.

In the animated DC film, actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson voices Krypto the Superdog, the loyal pet of Superman. However, Johnson is about to portray another fan-favorite DC character in live-action, Teth-Adam aka Black Adam, when the DC Extended Universe's Black Adam film strikes theaters in the Fall. The actor has shared the post-credit scene for Super-Pets on Instagram, which shows Krypto speaking with Anubis about whether Black Adam is really a villain or an antihero, while Superman comes to face-to-face with the powerhouse himself.

Johnson voices three of the four characters in the scene: Krypto, Anubis and Black Adam. As Superman (John Krasinski) stands with Black Adam, the antihero is animated to look as Johnson's upcoming live-action portrayal as opposed to the character's comic book appearance. Johnson has been talking about a match-up between his Black Adam and Superman for some time, writing in the Instagram post, "The world is starting to simmer with excitement about the earths shattering SUPERMAN vs BLACK ADAM showdown one day. But until then... BLACK ADAM'S DOG -- Anubis has a few choice words for SUPERMAN's DOG -- KRYPTO."

During Warner Bros.'s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Johnson spoke on the matchup, saying, "As you guys know, we're in deep in this mythology, and it's been the age-old question of who would win in a fight between Black Adam or Superman?" The actor continued, "Pound for pound, they're pretty close. I guess it probably all depends on who's playing Superman. I'll just say that. I'll leave it at that." DCEU Superman actor Henry Cavill was rumored to make an appearance during the panel to reveal his unknown future as the Man of Steel, but the actor was a no-show at SDCC.

Will DC Fans Ever See Black Adam Fight Superman or Shazam?

Although it is uncertain whether Cavill's Superman will be a part of the future DCEU, Black Adam's comic book nemesis will also be gracing theater screens in 2022. Originally, the 2022 live-action DC film slate comprised The Batman, Black Adam, The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, but after delays for the latter three films, now Black Adam and Shazam! Fury of the Gods will be close out 2022 for the DCEU. A main villain for Shazam! aka Billy Batson is Black Adam in comics, though Adam has been pivoted to behave more heroic in recent years.

It is unknown as of writing if Shazam! or any other previously seen DCEU heroes will appear in Black Adam, but the film is set to introduce a whole new team to the movie universe. The Justice Society of America debuts in the project, the team's members including Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo) and Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell).

DC League of Super-Pets is now playing in theaters, with Black Adam set to release Oct. 21, 2022.
