In Supernatural Season 14, God left his mark on Sam Winchester. When Season 15 picks up, that mark will offer him some pain -- and some revelations.

The Season 14 finale offered the Winchesters a MacGuffin. God appeared to them and handed over the Equalizer, a gun that can kill anything, but at a terrible price: it inflicts a mirror wound on the person who fired it. When God revealed he twisted their lives for his own personal amusement, Sam shot God with the Equalizer. The bullet struck God in the shoulder; in return, Sam suffered the same wound. As it turns out, that wound will have a role to play in Season 15.

According to TVInsider, Sam's mark will bring him "anguish and mysterious revelations." However, the report didn't offer any further details about what those revelations might be. Considering the nature of the gun, though, it may have connected Sam to the deity without his realizing it.

In the Season 14 finale, Sam and Dean Winchester came to the horrifying realization that the course of their lives had been personally steered by God's whim; every hardship, every tragedy had been crafted by God for his own entertainment. When they pushed back, God retaliated in kind, launching what may well be the end of everything. Heading into Season 15, the Winchesters will have to rail against the Creator himself to find peace at last.

Returning Thursday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW for its final season, Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, and Alexander Calvert.
