CW's Supernatural Could Return (On One Condition)

In October, Supernatural will kick off its fifteenth and final season. The long-running series will conclude with the upcoming 20 episodes, but the head of The CW suggested there is a chance for the show to come back -- on just one condition.

At the 2019 Television Critics Association Press Tour, CW President Mark Pedowitz recalled talks with the show's actors and producers about bringing the series to a close. He explained the one thing that could bring back the show: "If you can convince them to come back, I'm open!"

Though the cast and crew decided to end Supernatural on their own terms, Pedowitz implied the network would bring the show back if they changed their minds.

"All I can tell you is that Jared, Jensen, Peter Roth from Warner Brothers Studio and myself, had a very, very long, sad, heartbreaking discussion and we all came to understand what the guys wanted to do," he explained.

"They wanted to go out still relevant. They wanted to go be with their families. They wanted to see what else was out in the world and you know what? As we always said, and I said this many times, when they are ready to stop, we will stop," he added. "For them -- and for Stephen Amell on Arrow -- these shows are going out the way the way they were supposed to go... but if you can convince them to come back, I'm open!"

Stars Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins announced Season 15 would be their last back in March. "We wanted you to hear from us that, though we're excited about next year, it will be the finale -- the big, grand finale of an institution," they said at the time.

Returning Thursday, October 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW for its final season, Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins and Alexander Calvert.
