As the final season of Supernatural edges ever closer, the cast has become increasingly reflective of their time working on the popular CW series.Speaking with TV Guide, Misha Collins -- who has played Castiel since 2008 -- looked back on the series and became tearful as he recalled how emotional it was to film Supernatural's 15th season.
"So, weâre coming back to start Season 15 right now and every day is painful because every day is a new last," Collins said. "We just started episode 2 and we all gave each other a group and said, 'Aww, this is the last first day of shooting episode 2 of the season,' and thereâs going to be a lot lasts."
"You know, I think weâre trying to make the final season good," he added. "For a change. And weâre also just struggling with, ya know, a long goodbye."
When it comes to the legacy of Supernatural, Collins already knows what he wants the show to be remembered for.
"I have a very specific hope for the legacy of Supernatural," he explained. "One, that people remember it. And two, that that fandom is known for being charitable, and kind, and compassionate. I think we have been cultivating that, but I would love to see that be a legacy, like, I would love to see other fandoms try to emulate Supernatural in terms of helping one another and helping others."
Returning Thursday, October 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW for its final season, Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins and Alexander Calvert.
