Now that Supernatural is officially about to come to an end, Jensen Ackles will probably have a lot more time on his hands. The actor who has been playing Dean Winchester for 15 years has recently announced that he will be starring in The Boys season 3, which feels like the perfect fit for him. Ackles would make an excellent superhero (or villain) character, as long as he is one that is a bit rough around the edges.

Ackles voiced Red Hood in Batman: Under The Red Hood and once dressed up as the character for Halloween. Since then, fans have been dying to see the actor take on the role in a live-action production. Red Hood is witty, sarcastic, and a bit of a brute. He doesn't play by the rules, which seems to fit Ackles perfectly as most of the roles he has played have been similar to this. Ackles has the look of a bad boy with a heart of gold, and here are some characters who would perfectly fit that.

10 Green Arrow

Green Arrow is a bit gruffer and doesn't always like playing by the rules of the Justice League. He likes to do things his own way. While the TV series (which conveniently was on the same channel as Supernatural) made the character more like an arrow-shooting Batman, Green Arrow is typically more comical and sarcastic while doing his thing.

Jensen Ackles would probably revitalize the character and make Green Arrow a lot truer to his comic book self, giving him an edge of humor making the character more enjoyable to watch.

9 Hawkeye

On the same note, Ackles would make an excellent Hawkeye. Of course, Jeremy Renner is already pretty perfect for the role, but if they needed a second choice for any reason, Ackles would fit it exceptionally.

Hawkeye, like Green Arrow, has a bit of a humor streak, something that Ackles would be able to pull off better than many other actors could. Hawkeye is serious but beats himself up time and time again as he is surrounded by (literal) gods and super suits.

8 Arsenal

Arsenal, also known as Speedy or Red Arrow in some universes, actually is one of Red Hood's closest friends and one of the leading three characters in Red Hood and the Outlaws. Arsenal is a superhero with a bit of a dark side, but much that of Red Hood.

The two bond over being the "losers" of their own hero families, Red Hood from the Batfamily, and Arsenal of the Arrow family. The two characters act pretty similarly, so if Jensen Ackles could do Red Hood, he most definitely could do Arsenal.

7 Captain Boomerang

Captain Boomerang is more of a villain and is definitely in it for his own gain. If he has to have a D&D alignment, it would easily be Chaotic Neutral. This character does whatever he wants, whenever he wants, and rarely lets people get in his way.

Boomerang is sarcastic as can be and always puts up a fight. In pretty much every situation. The villain marches to the beat of his own drum, something Ackles could impersonate perfectly.

6 Punisher

The Punisher is a bit edgier than Ackles's usual flair, but if played right, he could potentially be the best Punisher fans have ever seen. Punisher is gruff and serious, but with a slight edge to him. If Jensen were to play Punisher in a movie or show, he would be able to add an element of sarcastic wit without making him cheesy and comedic.

The Punisher is a dark character and needs dark humor to accompany him. The humor behind Red Hood would be perfect for someone like the Punisher.

5 Batman Beyond

Batman Beyond, Terry McGinnis, would be another perfect role for Jensen Ackles. Terry is a bit more stoic than Red Hood, leaning towards Batman, but he also isn't as straight edge as the Dark Knight.

Jensen Ackles would be able to find the perfect in-between and play it wonderfully. He would have an excellent dynamic with old Bruce Wayne, as the two would probably argue a lot about Terry's new way of doing things and Bruce's disapproval.

4 Bucky Barnes

Bucky Barnes as Winter Soldier

Red Hood holds many similarities with the Winter Soldier. A few months before Jason Todd was revitalized and brought back to life in the DC comics, Marvel did something similar with Bucky Barnes. Bucky had been dead since his early days with Captain America but was brought back from the dead to become a super-soldier known as the Winter Soldier.

The two characters share similar personalities and weapons strategy, excelling in hand to hand combat and are some of the few superheroes (or antiheroes) to actually use guns. If Jensen Ackles could play Red Hood, he most definitely could play the Winter Soldier.

3 Black Mask

Black Mask is probably Red Hood's main arch-nemesis. The two constantly go head to head in almost every media Jason has been in, including the animated film and The Arkham Knight game. Black Mask is a mob lord and can very easily lose his cool under pressure. He's witty and snarky and definitely plays by his own rules, which often puts him in conflict with other heroes and villains.

Jensen Ackles would have to tap into his dark side for this role, but once he did, he would absolutely nail it. As Supernatural's Dean, he has had to go dark side more than a few times, and that role would perfectly match Black Mask.

2 Superboy

Superboy AKA Conner Kent From Young Justice

While Jensen Ackles is way too gruff for Superman, he would probably make the perfect Superboy. Superboy has had a number of renditions in the past, but they all resemble that of an edgier Superman.

Superboy is angry and confused and doesn't really like to think of himself as Superman's clone, so he does his own thing. In that regard, he's pretty similar to Jason who, as Robin, liked to separate himself from Batman and be his own hero. Superboy is sarcastic and easily bored so he enjoys keeping himself entertained in sometimes not the most heroic of ways.

1 Red X

Red X is one of the leading anti-heroes in Teen Titans. There are a number of theories who he might be under the mask and the most prominent one is that he is actually Jason Todd. It would make sense, after all, he is just as good as the boy wonder and is the second to wear the Red X costume, like Jason was the second to wear the Robin costume. He is witty and sarcastic and rough around the edges.

While Red X pretends to be all about himself, when push comes to shove, he'll do the right thing. Also his name, Red X is rather similar in theme to Red Hood. If Jensen Ackles could play Red Hood, he surely is able to play Red X. Naturally, the character would have to be aged up a bit.
