Fans around the world were shocked to learn that the upcoming 15th season of Supernatural will be the long-running series' last, and star Jared Padalecki has shared a behind the scenes photo from The CW series' early days, reflecting on its impact on his and co-star Jensen Ackles' lives.

Posted on Padalecki's Instagram account, the photo shows the two actors having fun between filming scenes for Season 1 sometime between 2005-2006, thanking the fans for years of support while admitting the news has still been emotional for him.

Padalecki had posted an emotional behind the scenes video with Ackles and co-star Misha Collins earlier today, announcing that the next season would be its last and run for 20 episodes.

Since Supernatural's debut in September 2005, the adventures of brothers Sam and Dean Winchester facing the forces of heaven and hell and everything in between has thrilled millions of fans worldwide. Ending its impressive run with 327 episodes, it is already the longest-running sci-fi/fantasy series in American broadcast television history.

Airing Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins and Alexander Calvert. The Season 14 finale airs on Thursday, April 25.
