Supernatural boss Andrew Dabb hinted this week that Jack having his soul restored will play a big role in the final episodes of the series.

"It impacts his relationship with the guys, because for the first time, Dean really understands where he's coming from," Dabb told Entertainment Weekly. "And then as we'll find out, him having his soul back is a prerequisite for, let's just call it things to come."

Dabb went on to explain that the Winchester brothers will need Jack and his soul to take on a very ill-tempered God, who fans last witnessed taking down entire worlds.

"You look at it as this kid whose built these LEGO sculptures or sandcastles and now he's running around kicking them all down," the co-showrunner added. "I think this would qualify as a temper tantrum. I think the question is: Where does this God temper tantrum end and is anything left standing by the time it does?"

The news about Jack's story arc comes on the heels of Dabb revealing some fan-favorite characters won't be returning for the series finale due to COVID restrictions. He admitted earlier this week that "there were certainly people we would have liked to have brought back like Samantha Smith, like Jeffrey Dean Morgan."

The final season of Supernatural began airing in January of this year, but production was forced to halt due to COVID-19. Starring Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins and Alexander Calvert, the final seven episodes of the series begin airing tonight, Oct. 8, on The CW.
