Supernatural's Misha Collins responded to the controversy regarding a Spanish dub of the Season 15 finale that seemed to confirm Dean Winchester's (Jensen Ackles) romantic love for Castiel (Collins).

"Hi! I just wanted to take a moment to explain that there is no conspiracy; there never was an alternate ending of Episode 1518, when Cas said, 'I love you.' There apparently was a rogue translator," the actor said on Twitter. " I feel proud of the ending of Supernatural. I feel like it was intentionally inclusive, and a celebration of someone expressing their truth and having good things come of it. Castiel is not a character that plays into an insidious trope of exclusion in Hollywood. Castiel's declaration of love was done on of his own volition with full knowledge of the consequences of those actions." He also pointed out that Castiel's act ends up saving the world. "If that's not something to celebrate, I don't know what is," Collins reiterated.

During the scene in question, Castiel confesses his love to Dean before sacrificing himself to stop Death. While Dean does not reciprocate this declaration of love in the American version of the episode, a Spanish dub has Dean respond, "Yo a ti, Cas," or "And I you, Cas." At the time, no one from the series or The CW had responded, and some fans saw this as another example of LGBTQ+ content being censored on the series.

Supernatural's Season 15 finale aired on The CW on Nov. 19, cementing itself as the longest-running sci-fi/genre series in American television history.

The epic journey of the Winchester brothers comes to a close as SUPERNATURAL enters its final season. Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) and the angel Castiel (Misha Collins) have conquered monsters, demons, Heaven and Hell, and in the show’s 14th season, the Winchesters grappled with the Archangel Michael possessing Dean. In a valiant act, Sam and Dean’s surrogate son Jack (Alexander Calvert) destroyed his soul to redeem his adoptive father. But this proved to be a fatal error, leading to the accidental death of Mary Winchester. The 14th season also featured the return of John Winchester (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) for the show’s historic 300th episode.

Supernatural stars Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins and Alexander Calvert. All 15 seasons are streaming now on Netflix.
