Supernatural alum Jensen Ackles says he and Warner Bros. are in the process of developing a new DC project together, though the actor is keeping tight-lipped on the details.

During a recent episode of Smallville alum Michael Rosenbaum's Inside Of You podcast, Rosenbaum asked Ackles if there was one Marvel or DC movie he would like to be involved in. "Well, there is... there is a DC property that I'm currently developing right now with Warner Bros. and some other good partners that I've got my fingers crossed for," Ackles replied. "But again, I'm not gonna talk about it, 'cause you don't wanna jinx it."

Ackles did not clarify whether the property he's currently developing is actually a film, or perhaps a television project. He also did not specify whether the project is animated or live-action.

While Ackles is perhaps best known for his role as Dean Winchester on The WB/The CW's Supernatural, the actor has also had the opportunity to play in the DC sandbox on occasion. In fact, Ackles once starred on Smallville opposite Rosenbaum, playing the character of Jason Teague in the Superman prequel series' fourth season from 2004 to 2005.

Additionally, Ackles voiced Jason Todd/Red Hood in the acclaimed 2010 animated film Batman: Under the Red Hood. He later took on the role of the Dark Knight himself, voicing Bruce Wayne/Batman in 2021's two-part animated film adaptation of Batman: The Long Halloween. That said, it's unclear if his prospective new project is related to his previous ones, or something else entirely.

While it remains to be seen exactly what Ackles' future with DC holds, the actor is certainly keeping busy these days. Despite Supernatural having come to an end after 15 seasons in 2020, Ackles is currently co-developing a spinoff/prequel series titled The Winchesters, in which he will reprise his role as Dean in order to serve as the show's narrator.

Ackles is also set to play the character of Soldier Boy in the upcoming third season of Supernatural creator Eric Kripke's live-action adaptation of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's satirical superhero comic The Boys. The Boys Season 3 is slated to premiere on Prime Video this summer on Friday, June 3.
