"For The CW to have had so many shows over the last 15 years that have earned such passion from the legions of fans, it is really a profound testament to everyone who put their blood, sweat and tears into creating them, from the casts, the creators, the writers and crew, and everyone at the network and studios," said chairman and CEO of The CW, Mark Pedowitz, who spoke to TVLine ahead of the final vote tally. "No matter who comes out on top, we are grateful to have been associated with them all."

Supernatural came to a close in November 2020 after 15 seasons, not only making it The CW's longest-running series -- airing on the network from 2005 to 2020 -- but, at the time, the longest-running sci-fi series in the United States. Recently, Ackles, who portrayed Dean Winchester on the series for the entirety of its run, celebrated the anniversary of Supernatural's production wrap on the final season, which happened to coincide with the filming wrap on Amazon Prime Video's The Boys a year later.

It was announced Aug. 2020 that the Supernatural alum would play Soldier Boy in The Boys Season 3, the first superhero manufactured by Vaught Industries in World War II, described as "the original Superhero" and "a mainstay of American culture for decades." As for Sam Winchester actor Padalecki, he is currently starring in a new CW show, Walker, which is a reimagining of the long-running series Walker, Texas Ranger.

Following the conclusion of Supernatural, a prequel, spinoff series titled The Winchesters was announced. Told from Dean's perspective, The Winchesters will focus on Sam and Dean Winchester's parents, John and Mary Winchester, in the early days of their "epic, love story," and will follow the two characters as they "put it all on the line to not only save their love but the entire world." The series will be executive produced by Jensen and Daneel Ackles through their production company Chaos Machine Productions.

Created by Eric Kripke (The Boys) and starring Ackles and Padalecki as monster-hunting brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester, Supernatural ran on The CW for 15 seasons, wrapping its 327-episode run on Nov. 19, 2020. All 15 seasons of Supernatural are currently streaming on Netflix.
