WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Superman: Son of Kal-El #10, now on sale from DC ComicsThe DC Universe comes packed with countless superheroes who are all looking to fight the good fight and stop oppressive evil when they see it, but Superman: Son of Kal-El writer Tom Taylor thinks there's one character who's better than all the rest at taking down corruption: Lois Lane.

In a CBR exclusive interview, Taylor discussed a pivotal moment in Superman: Son of Kal-El #10 where Lois Lane outsmarts Lex Luthor at a press conference. While Luthor is trying to convince Metropolis that Jonathan Kent is a menace to society, Lois steps forward with Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth and tells Luthor to continue speaking while holding onto it. Luthor refuses to do so and walks away. Later in the issue, Lois reveals that she didn't actually have the Lasso of Truth and rather just painted a piece of rope gold. "Lex assumes he's the smartest person in any room but Lois Lane is the greatest journalist on the planet," Taylor said of the moment. "And in this meeting of wits, Lois most definitely came out on top. Lois is probably the most skilled person in the DCU when it comes to taking down corrupt men who think they can get away with lying to the public."

Artist Cian Tormey further spoke about the importance of Lois' actions during the press conference and how the scene reflects Lois' skills as a reporter. "What we really wanted to do at that particular moment was to point out that we know who Lois Lane is, we know that she's a reporter and Lex Luthor has created this press conference. So we wanted to find a way to point out that not only is Lois back within an area that she knows well, but that she still is kind of apart from that because she's still a mom as well...Ultimately, she's the hero and the badass of the whole issue. It's Lois' issue. Yeah, Jon is going through his crisis and everything, but Lois saves the day. Ultimately, she is the person who makes Jon feel safe."

Lois Lane first appeared in 1938's Action Comics #1 by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The character is typically depicted as an award-winning, tough-as-nails journalist who works for the Daily Planet and is the primary love interest of Superman. She's been portrayed a number of times in live-action format by actors such as Amy Adams, Margot Kidder, Kate Bosworth, Erica Durance, Elizabeth Tulloch and more.
