Superman is one, if not the most, prolific hero in the DC Universe. The powers that the son of Krypton possesses are some of the most unparalleled in comics, but what about the villains that chase him? Superman's foes are some of the most dangerous in the comic world. What are the weapons they use to best the mighty hero?

The rogue gallery of villains that Superman faces is nothing to scoff at. They have even succeeded in supposedly killing (Doomsday especially) the mighty hero. These are 10 of the deadliest weapons the villains use to wreak havoc on Superman.

10 10. Lobo's Chain and Hook

Lobo, DC Universe's biggest bounty hunter, has been terrorizing Superman for years. Although Lobo and Superman have worked together at one point or another, they have also gone toe to toe. Lobo has a plethora of weapons at his side, but none more iconic than his chain and hook.

The chain hook can cause an immense amount of damage as its composition is made up completely of titanium. The razor-sharp hook can slice up anyone in spectacular fashion while acting as the eventual capturing device that would imprison them. Superman would do well to avoid Lobo's attacks or end up being dragged by his bike through space.

9 9. Sinestro's Yellow Power Ring

Sinestro has been a powerful foe for the Justice League, as he wields the Yellow Power Ring. The Yellow Power Ring works exactly like the Green Lantern's Green Power Ring, imbuing its user with catastrophically powerful magic. Sinestro's imagination could think up any manner of an object to do away with Superman.

The size and shape of the weapon that Sinestro could think up would cause immense damage to Superman, as well as, the ability to create a powerful force field to block any incoming attacks. Sinestro's ring allows him to fly at great speeds, and to survive in any environment, allowing the fight to take place in any location (preferably away from the sun).

8 8. Metallo's Robotic Body

Metallo's robotic body presents a huge danger to Superman. His body can withstand a massive amount of physical and energy damage. This does not bode well for Superman, as his super strength and heat vision would be rendered useless.

Having a highly defensive robotic body is not the biggest reason Metallo is deadly, but the fact that his body is powered by a Kryptonite heart can be detrimental for the boy scout. He uses his Kryptonite based abilities to bring Superman to his knees, and if all else fails, he can rip his heart out and throw it at Superman for a last-ditch effort.

7 7. Kalibak's Beta Club

Kalibak's Beta Club is one of the most powerful weapons in the DC Universe. The eldest son of Darkseid was able to achieve all-powerful status with this weapon at his side. The Beta Club fires concussion blasts at anyone it comes across. These blasts are so deep in power, that not even the mighty Superman can withstand them.

Not only do these energy blasts cause a wave of destruction, but the club can also attack nerve receptors. This attacking of the nerves will cause the person, who is fired upon, to go through absolute writhing pain.

6 6. Batman's Kryptonite Ring

Superman provided Batman with a Kryptonite ring for one specific reason: to take the Man of Steel down in the event of a catastrophe. There could be an argument made to say that Batman is not exactly the enemy of Superman, but there is a contingency plan in case Superman goes off the rails. Also, there are several times across the multiverse where Batman & Superman were at odds with one another.

Case and point, in the story arc Hush, by Jeph Loeb. Superman is taken control of by Poison Ivy, and Batman has no choice but to use the ring to end the tyranny that Superman would have wrought on the DC world.

5 5. Deathstroke's God Killer Blade

The God Killer blade was specifically made, for one thing, to kill those who are immortal. The blade has such a powerful nature, it was gifted to Deathstroke to be the weapon that would ultimately kill the strongest hero, Superman.

What makes this weapon such a viable tool in the taking down of deities, is that it absorbs any attack that is thrown at it. Also, the blade has been known to contract a free-will level of thinking, which benefits the blade in being able to adapt its power to any situation. This adaptive ability could be the best chance at quelling all of Superman's powers.

4 4. Lex Luthor's Mech Suit

DC Comics' Lex Luthor's laughining maniacally in his warsuit

Lex Luthor, Superman's biggest antagonist, needed to find a way to take down the hero once and for all. Enter the mech suit. The suit itself can match the strength of Superman, and even if Supe's strength were to rise above the suit, the many Kryptonite weapons that are imbued within can make short work of Superman.

The suit is also equipped with rocket boosters that allow him to fly for an extended period, a force field capability that protects against all attacks, and can withstand the power of Superman for a great deal of time. This leaves Luthor the time to pick apart the Kryptonian.

3 3. Cyborg Superman's Cybernetic Arm

Cyborg Superman is virtually indestructible, which poses a big problem for Superman. When The New 52 launched, Cyborg Superman came back in a big way. The same robotic body existed, but with a nightmarish twist. Zor-El aka Cyborg Superman came with a powerful weapon at his disposal, a cybernetic arm. This arm can shapeshift to anything that Zor-El desires.

This is a big problem for Superman, as the indestructible weaponry that Cyborg Superman could use would cause immense damage. Superman could be laid to waste with any manner of technological weapon that the arm would manifest into.

2 2. Superboy-Prime's Anti-Monitor Suit

It is no surprise that Superboy-Prime is as powerful Superman himself, being that he is the Superman from another dimension (Earth-Prime). After believing himself as the one true Superman, and wanting to destroy Earth because of that, he became a murderous villain. Superboy-Prime was imprisoned by the Flashes in the speed force but soon escaped.

His escape led to the creation of a power suit fashioned after the powers of Anti-Monitor. The Anti-Monitor suit was made to constantly feed yellow solar energy to Superboy-Prime. This constant solar energy feeding only allowed the pseudo-Superman to become even more powerful than Earth's Superman.

1 1. Darkseid's Anti-Life Equation

Darkseid is arguably the most powerful villain in the DC Universe. With his immense power comes one of the most feared (and odd) weapons in all of comics, the Anti-Life Equation. The Anti-Life Equation is a mathematical equation that causes catastrophic damage, with its ability to prove to anyone living that hope, love, and freedom are all meaningless.

This attacking of a person's free-will thinking would cause those affected to completely give up their minds to Darkseid. This weapon would cause one of the worse fates for Superman, his ability to control his immense power. If Darkseid controlled the most powerful being on the planet, then the world would cease to exist.
