The image shows Superman kneeling front and center mourning over fallen characters. Batman and Wonder Woman stand to the right and left, respectively, while a shattering Earth floats behind them. Among the characters lying on the ground are Superboy, Earth-2 Superman, Earth-2 Lois Lane and Earth-3 Alexander Luthor.

Jimenez did the art for Infinite Crisis, which featured a multitude of characters from DC's long history and reintroduced the multiverse. The fallout of the event would reverberate throughout the entire DCU for years to come.

2005's Infinite Crisis is a 7-issue limited series written by Geoff Johns with art by Phil Jimenez. The story saw the return of several pre-Crisis characters to New Earth. They monitor the new heroes and come to the conclusion that they aren't deserving of their roles. Earth-3 Alexander Luthor devises a plan to restore Earth-2 and unleashes the might of Superboy-Prime upon the world.
