SUPERMAN RETURNS

There's a very poignant story in USA Today about a very special parcel actor Brandon Routh received in the mail. Midway through filming, he got a package in the mail which contained two pendants and a letter. The pendants, each emblazoned with a red S, said simply, "Go Forward." The note from Dana Reeve, the widow of deceased "Superman" actor Christopher Reeve, said much the same thing. "She said she thought I'd be a good Superman," Routh said. "She wished me luck. I can't tell you what that was like to get her blessing. I was nervous, because I had never heard from the family, and it's frightening trying to fill Christopher Reeve's shoes. I wrote her back but never got to speak with her. Still, it was such an honor. And it made me realize how important it is to respect not just the characters in this movie, but the people who were a part of it."

Meanwhile, there's a note at Superhero Hype about the studio showing footage from the film at Las Vegas' Showest convention. Footage apparently showed Lex in action, and their report details more about what was seen.

Finally, Warner Brothers also sent CBR a new image from the film, which appeared in the aforementioned USA Today story, and we're happy to present it for you.

X-MEN 3: THE LAST STAND

Superhero Hype also notes that actor Hugh Jackman was at Showest, showing spoiler-esque clips from the super-powered sequel. He did reiterate that this will be the final movie in the franchise's "X-Men" named line, but did not count the proposed spin-offs (which could include the likes of Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut).

SMALLVILLE

The last chapter of the "Vengeance Chronicles" webisodes is online, and you can see some clips of the rest of the season after Chloe and the Angel of Vengeance have their tete-a-tete.

V FOR VENDETTA

IGN has a video interview with actress Natalie Portman, added to their existing video content. If you weren't aware, Alan Moore is doing a publicity campaign of his own (at MTV and The Beat) to talk about why he wants nothing to do with this film adaptation of his work. Just in case you forgot.

BATMAN BEGINS 2

One last note from Showest, also from Superhero Hype, saying that Warner Brothers exec Alan Horn proclaimed that the Gotham City-based film would be the studio's major focus for 2008.

SAKES AND BEGORRAH, THAT'S A WRAP!

Here's where you get in on the action. Did you see a link we didn't catch? Have you snuck into a closed movie set, and have inside data? Maybe your cousin is dating somebody who knows something, and they had to tell you? Whatever it is, we wanna know it all -- fire off an email and let us know whether you want your name used or your contributions to geekdom to go down anonymously. Broadcasting live from Los Angeles, this is novelist/karaoke host/all-around lunatic Hannibal Tabu saying thanks for your time and indulgence, and [tagline sent back to development hell until something hipper can be dreamed up].
