SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "Blind Trust," the latest episode of Superman & Lois.

Jordan's new power has landed him in a world of trouble. In "Blind Trust," the latest episode of Superman & Lois, the Kent son's encounter with Tag Harris led him to develop a new ability: super hearing. However, unlike his super strength, Jordan isn't reaping the benefits of super hearing just yet. In fact, it's less of a gift and more of a curse, as it causes him some pretty intense pain that triggers his heat vision. This came to a head at the end of the episode, when Clark was forced to whisk Jordan away to the Fortress of Solitude in order to help his son.

Speaking to CBR, Superman & Lois showrunner Todd Helbing previewed what's in store for Jordan, the Kent family and the rest of Smallville's citizens. He teased how Jordan's super hearing struggle will mirror Clark's and that these powers will continue to impact Jonathan as the series continues. He discussed the way several key relationships will shift, including the one between Lois and her father General Lane, and the growing friendship between Lois and Lana. He also promised some major revelations about Captain Luthor, more Superman mythology to come and more.

CBR: So it looks like Jordan is on his way to another new power. He's already struggling a bit with his super strength, so how does that super hearing continue to complicate things for him?

Todd Helbing: Well, in a couple ways. There's a pain quotient that's associated with it. I mean, if you can imagine hearing every sound in the world at once, that would give you a migraine like you've never had before. So he has to deal with that. But also, there's this responsibility, this thing that Clark keeps telling him, is, "You have a responsibility. You have a responsibility. These powers, it changes your life." And one of them, now, is how do you use those powers responsibly?

If you have super hearing, what could you be listening for? I mean, it's interesting, because we set that up in Episode 3, when the kids are asking about it, and now Jordan is gonna have that. So how is he going to deal with it?

Jordan really hurt Jonathan in this episode. How will we see that impact the brothers moving forward?

Well, he's clearly very upset that this happened to him. Jonathan goes through a couple of these moments moving forward. You know, his brother's powers are manifesting and it affects him in one way or the other. Jonathan's challenge, then, is how to find a common ground and keep his brother, his brother and not change.

Speaking of trust, there's been a pretty monumental shift in the way Clark and General Lane see each other following the Department of Defense's use of Kryptonite rounds against him. What does this mean for them?

Well, I think there's multiple examples of this in the show; there's even more coming up. And it's not just with Clark, it's also with Lois. It's like Lois, as a child whose dad was gone a lot because he was working all the time and his job came first -- I think, for Lois, she grew probably to respect that, but once now that it starts to affect her family and her husband and her kids, and what that means for that relationship, and what General Lane is willing to do, even though that's her husband and her kids' father, I think that really, really drives a wedge between them and Lane.

I'm so excited for the team up between Lois and Lana. What can we expect from that partnership?

From the conceit of the show, it was always interesting to us was putting Lana and Lois together and have them become friends and work together and become really close. In the future, that's what you see, is their friendship grow and working together and having this common purpose, even though her husband might not be aware of what she's doing, but Lana feeling like she's on the right side of this argument. So you get to see how it affects her relationship with Kyle, but also how it affects her relationship with Lois and Clark, and I think it's really interesting, but fun to play, for sure.

I have a feeling Luthor's decision to work so closely with Lois is going to come back to haunt him. Exactly how dangerous was it for him to make that move?

At the end of [Episode] 6, going down in the mines with her -- she is clearly a smart woman who can tell when somebody is being truthful or not. So yeah, in Episode 7, all this stuff comes to a head in a pretty surprising way.

Over the first five episodes, we saw some flashbacks to Captain Luthor's time on his own world. What are the odds we'll see more of that down the line?

Oh, yeah, you see a lot more! Throughout the season, you'll get the full picture of what happened on his planet: who he is, what his motivation is, what he lost. You get to see all of that. So you really understand what his point of view is and why this is important to him.

Arrow star David Ramsey, who plays John Diggle, came back to direct Episode 7. What was he able to bring to the series as an Arrowverse vet?

Well, first, his chops as a director -- he is fantastic. So I think he just has the skill set that you need, as somebody on a show that is as big as ours. You need somebody that's as comfortable with shows that are as big as ours, and he's been around it forever.

Then he just brings his knowledge, because he's from this world. So I think he speaks all the languages that you need to speak. It was really fun collaborating with him. So a lot of great ideas. I think what he did with Episode 7 is fantastic, and it's one of my favorite episodes of the season.

Can you tease one moment or scene you can't wait for folks to see from the remaining episodes?

Yeah, there's Episode 7. You'll know when you see it. I think there's some awesome stuff that happens in Episode 10, the mythology, that's trippy and just strange and it's a flip on what we've seen. Episode 11, I think people are going to really dig. I mean, every episode is different. There's different moments, but those stick out right now.

Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch, Dylan Walsh, Alex Garfin, Jordan Elsass, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Inde Navarrette and Wolé Parks. The series returns May 18 and will air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
