The CWverse has spanned a variety of worlds, powers and aesthetics -- from the gritty view of Arrow to the time-romping-adventures of DC's The Legends of Tomorrow -- and their upcoming show, Superman & Lois, will now add in a family dynamic unseen before in the shared universe.

"The main way that we're gonna make this a little different is that Clark and Lois are married in this version, and they're not only married...they have two teenage boys," Showrunner Todd Helbing said during the show's DC FanDome panel. "I think as a father who happens to have two boys, that felt like a really great way to bring in some personal experience and just to tell really a different story."

Tyler Hoechlin debuted as Superman during the Season 2 premiere of Supergirl. He returned later for the Elseworlds and the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossovers, alongside Elizabeth Tulloch's as Lois Lane. During the events of these crossovers, Lois revealed she was pregnant and accepted Clark's marriage proposal. Originally, the pair had a son named Jonathan; but, after the events of Crisis caused the universe to reboot, Superman was left with two teenage sons. Helbing is no stranger to the DC universe nor The CWverse, having served as a writer/showrunner on The Flash.

Debuting in Jan. 2021, Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch, Dylan Walsh, Alex Garfin, Jordan Elsass, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Inde Navarrette and Wolé Parks.
