WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Superman & Lois Season 2, Episode 3, "The Thing in the Mines," which aired Tuesday, Jan. 25, on The CW.

Superman & Lois has been great at fake-outs when it comes to its villains. It began with Lex Luthor, who was revealed to be John Henry Irons trying to save Earth in case the Man of Steel broke bad, and Season 2 has done it again with Bizarro being the one in the suit from Smallville's mines, not Doomsday. However, with fans' appetites wet for the Kryptonian destroyer, Superman & Lois has an easy in to bring Doomsday in later on. And when the time comes, the series doesn't have to reinvent the wheel -- it can use Krypton's Doomsday.

The SyFy TV series lasted for two seasons before it was cancelled, however, Doomsday was a lingering thread at the end that was set up for more battles against Clark's grandfather, Seg-El. The behemoth was part of a military experiment by the Houses of El and Zod, turning Dax Baron into the super-soldier to protect the planet. Unfortunately, his wife, Enaj, abandoned him after he became a monster, which led to Doomsday becoming an angry WMD.

Krypton Doomsday

When he broke out, Zod helped contain him, with Season 2 ending with Zod promising to give him direction, even muttering his wife's name to trigger the beast. Seeing as "Crisis on Infinite Earths" melded universes, it's easy to envision this Doomsday getting looped into the CW series once Warner Bros. can finesse the paperwork.

Now, while the cartoons and comics have nailed Doomsday's depiction, live-action performances haven't been as good. Doomsday was basically a Hulk within Davis Broome on Smallville, while he was a mutated Zod in Zack Snyder's vision, and in both cases, the design wasn't impressive. Krypton, though, nailed both his design, gave him personality and made him imposing in battle. With Superman & Lois already shining in terms of CGI, this Doomsday's aesthetic simply fits the vibe of the show, so it's a match made in heaven.

What makes this so enticing is from a narrative standpoint, Doomsday can be a sympathetic villain, playing on the show's main themes of family, legacy and redemption. It's seen with Tal-Rho being Clark's Kryptonian brother, who's only now realizing he was weaponized and made into an extremist by Zeta-Rho, thus Doomsday can follow suit if he comes to kill Kal-El.

He'd have reason to do so, as he was programmed for such; plus, he'd hate how the Els manipulated his life. He lost his wife and kids by becoming their pawn, so Doomsday could go after Superman's family out of jealousy. However, this can cause conflict within, adding nuance and making him more than just a mindless creature. Not to mention it could lead to Kal wanting to cure him once he got wind of his background, shaping an original dynamic from the lore.

It'd become a story of the man imprisoned within the monster, with Dax battling for his soul and to become the hero he once wanted to be. Ultimately, it'd be an organic addition, and because the Arrowverse had Kal fighting a Doomsday at some point, this would be a chance to make their rivalry something much more meaningful based on a pre-existing foundation.

To see how Doomsday can still return, Superman & Lois airs Tuesdays at 8pm ET/PT on The CW.
