According to a new report, the pilot episode of the upcoming Arrowverse series Superman & Lois includes an expansion of the show's supporting cast, a layoff and a major secret.

Primer Timer reports the series follows Clark Kent and Lois Lane as they navigate the complicated life of being working parents to two teenage twins, Jonathan and Jordan Kent. While the boys are unaware of their father's superhero double life at the start of the series, they discover they are developing superpowers of their own. Jonathan will be framed as the popular kid in school, while Jordan is more socially withdrawn.

Much has happened to Clark and his friends and family by the pilot's start. The investigative reporter will find himself laid off by the Daily Planet. His father Jonathan has since passed away, while his mother Martha lives alone on the Kent family farm in Smallville. Clark's childhood friend Lana Lang similarly lives in Smallville, trapped in an unhappy domestic life, with an alcoholic husband named Kyle Cushing and their two daughters Sarah and Sophie. By the time of the series, Sarah had attempted suicide a year earlier.

Lois' own family will also figure in the series, with her father General Sam Lane present and aware of Clark's secret. Meanwhile, the casting description notes that a mysterious antagonist known simply as "the Stranger" will appear in the pilot, but their identity revealed will be revealed by the episode's end.
