The CW has announced Superman & Lois' midseason return with a new poster that shows the Man of Steel and Lois Lane flying high in the sky.In addition to tweeting out the poster, the network re-confirmed Superman & Lois will return for the second half of Season 1 on May 18. The series has been on a brief hiatus "due to a COVID-related production interruption earlier this season," with Supergirl Season 6 taking its usual spot in The CW's Tuesday evening lineup. Superman & Lois will air the rest of Season 1 upon its return, with Supergirl wrapping up its final run of episodes in the summer.
Superman & Lois follows the Arrowverse's Clark Kent, Lois Lane and their sons Jordan and Jonathan in the wake of Crisis on Infinite Earths. Season 1 kicked off with Clark and Lois deciding to move their family to Smallville following Martha Kent's death, in the hopes of providing more stability for Jordan, who is neuroatypical. If anything, however, their lives have grown more complicated since then, between Jordan learning he has super-powers and Lois uncovering a conspiracy involving Morgan Edge, the shady mogul who's been buying up land in Smallville in order to gain access to the X-Kryptonite in its mines.
The first half of Season 1 ended with Jordan being attacked by Tag Harris, a fellow student and member of the Smallville High football team who developed super-abilities after being exposed to X-Kryptonite the night Jordan's powers began to manifest. Superman & Lois will continue to explore Jordan's struggle to use his abilities responsibly when it returns, even as Lois digs deeper into Edge's secret operation.
If that wasn't enough, the Kent family will also have to deal with Captain Luthor. A soldier from an alternate Earth where Superman was a murderer, Luthor has been trying to find a way to defeat the Man of Steel, believing it's only a matter of time before he destroys Earth-Prime. The trailer for the second half of Season 1 shows Luthor uncovering X-Kryptonite in a cave, offering him a potential way to even the odds in his battle with Superman.
Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch, Dylan Walsh, Alex Garfin, Jordan Elsass, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Inde Navarrette and Wolé Parks. The series returns May 18 and will air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
