The following contains spoilers for Superman & Lois Season 2, Episode 13, "All Is Lost," which aired Tuesday, June 7, on The CW.

Jordan Kent has come into his own during Superman & Lois Season 2. With his dad Clark barely surviving a trip to Bizarro World, he has stepped up as the hooded vigilante protecting Smallville. Jordan harnessing super-speed and other abilities, while remaining focused despite Sarah dumping him, has made his father proud. Despite having a ridiculous disguise, he has visibly matured.

However, the season's most recent episode changed his outlook drastically. Jordan gained a new power -- which is perfectly timed since cult leader Ally Allston is on the warpath after her pendant was destroyed. But any celebration was cut short because his latest ability also comes with a certain amount of responsibility that will truly test Jordan's mettle in the rest of the season.

In Season 2, Episode 13, "All is Lost," Jordan finally took flight while training with Clark. He was able to make big leaps before, but he couldn't fully take to the air until this episode. His father took him out to a canyon and -- in a possible homage to the ascension of Henry Cavill's Superman in the movie Man of Steel -- Jordan jumped off a cliff. When the panic kicked in, he was able to fly.

It will take some time for him to fully control this new power; Clark had to intervene to stop him from crashing into a rock face. However, Jordan seemed to be getting the hang of it pretty quickly. This newfound ability more or less completes his transition from Jordan into Superboy. It couldn't come at a better time, since Superman will need backup after Ally battered him and killed the Bizarro World version of his brother Tal-Rho.

In fact, Jordan will have to take his dad's place sooner rather than later because Clark no longer has his powers. Ally drained him during an attack on the Lane family. Steel and Natalie saved them, but this turn of events gave Jordan the responsibility of being the Boy of Steel in an official capacity. That requires a different level of maturity because his father won't be there as a contingency plan. While Tal-Rho could help out, Jordan still has a lot on his shoulders as Kal-El's true successor.

His confidence will also depend on his mom's support. While Clark believes he's ready, Lois is cynical and overprotective. Her skepticism is justified; if he fumbles against Ally, she could drain his essence and kill him like she almost murdered his father. Iif Jordan doesn't take up the baton from his dad properly, the entire Earth will be devoured by Ally's dark ambitions to merge it with the Bizarro realm. Yet he now has all the powers he needs to do the job.

Superman & Lois airs Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
