Arrow's John Diggle will be back before you know it. During an interview, Superman & Lois showrunner Todd Helbing told CBR that David Ramsey is set to reprise the role in the upcoming 12th episode of the series.

When asked which Arrowverse character he would like to have on the show, Helbing explained, "I mean, I obviously have an affection for Flash. You know, I love [The Flash star] Grant [Gustin]. That would be a lot of fun. We'll see! I think just the way that things evolved with our show and unintentionally being separated in a way that we have because of COVID, it really changed so many plans that we had. The further along we got, the harder it was to justify having a big explanation. It just felt so false. So that's really where that came from."

"But John Diggle shows up in Episode 12!" he added. "The circumstances led us down this other path, so we'll see what happens next season."

Helbing also previewed "Man of Steel," the series' seventh episode, which Ramsey directed. Asked what Ramsey was able to bring to the episode as an Arrowverse veteran, Helbing said, "Well, first, his chops as a director -- he is fantastic. So I think he just has the skill set that you need, as somebody on a show that is as big as ours. You need somebody that's as comfortable with shows that are as big as ours, and he's been around it forever."

"Then he just brings his knowledge, because he's from this world. So I think he speaks all the languages that you need to speak. It was really fun collaborating with him. So a lot of great ideas. I think what he did with Episode 7 is fantastic, and it's one of my favorite episodes of the season," he teased.

Ramsey's return as Diggle was originally announced back in December 2020. In addition to Superman & Lois, Diggle will appear on Supergirl, The Flash and Batwoman. He is slated to direct episodes for multiple Arrowverse shows as well.

Although Arrow came to last year, the series finale left the future wide open for Diggle, who has played a major role since the original Arrowverse show premiered. In "Fadeout," Diggle appeared to receive his Green Lantern ring. The closing montage, which revealed the members of Team Arrow heading their separate ways, picked up with Diggle as he finished packing up his house to move to Metropolis. Suddenly, a fireball crashed right in front of him, leaving behind a smoking crater. There, he discovered a small box. When he opened it, the contents glowed green, suggesting John Diggle of Earth had been invited to join the Green Lantern Corps. However, it is unclear at this time if Ramsey's upcoming episodes will explore the fallout of this revelation.

Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch, Dylan Walsh, Alex Garfin, Jordan Elsass, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Inde Navarrette and Wolé Parks. The series returns May 18 and will air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
