Superman & Lois'series premiere on The CW was filled with Easter eggs, including a nod to a fan-favorite costume.

The opening sequence features the events that brought Superman and Lois Lane to the present day, starting from baby Kal-El crash-landing in Smallville, KS. One of the standout scenes is an homage to the iconic Action Comics #1, where Superman lifts a green automobile with his super-strength.

His costume during this era recalls the 1940s design from the Max Fleischer cartoons. Superman sports his red trunks, and his red chest symbol has a black background with a yellow border around it.

After Superman catches the car and saves a boy, the boy tells him that his costume is cool, to which Superman replies, "Thanks, my mom made it for me." This is inspired by a more recent entry in the canon, the limited series Superman for All Seasons, by Jeph Loeb, Tim Sale, Bjarne Hansen and Richard Starkings.

The episode had numerous hidden gems from different eras and mediums. Some of these included shout-outs to Superman's creators, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, a reference to the Smallville TV series, the Injustice video game and other characters throughout the DC Universe.

Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch, Dylan Walsh, Alex Garfin, Jordan Elsass, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Inde Navarrette and Wolé Parks. The series airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
