SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "Fail Safe," the latest episode of Superman & Lois.

Smallville Gazette editor-in-chief Chrissy Beppo just had to make one of the hardest decisions of her life. On Superman & Lois, the budding journalist has long admired ex-Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane. So, when Lois quit the Planet and joined the Gazette, Chrissy couldn't have been more thrilled. However, in "Fail Safe," she found herself in a difficult position when Lois was less-than-honest with her about General Sam Lane's activities in Smallville. Nevertheless, Chrissy stood up for herself and what she believed in -- ultimately winning Lois' respect and scoring the truth she had been after all along.

Speaking to CBR, Superman & Lois star Sofia Hasmik broke down that confrontation between Chrissy and Lois and explained why that will only make their relationship stronger. She explained why she wants Chrissy to team up with Lana Lang and where she'd like to see Season 2 take her character. She also emphasized the importance of Smallville as a community in the last two episodes of Season 1, shared her dream story arc for Chrissy and more.

CBR: When we first met Chrissy, she was absolutely star-struck by Lois, but in this next episode, we see her start to push back against one of Lois' decisions. How will we see that dynamic continue to evolve?

Sofia Hasmik: I think because Chrissy really does admire Lois so much and there's so much of her that she takes from, a lot of that also being the fact that Lois is very unwavering and she does have that journalistic integrity. I think, with Chrissy standing up to Lois, especially in Episode 1.13, I think what she's doing is she's really emulating that.

I think in a weird way, she's reminding Lois about that, about that part of her and it was this very strange, great scene between the two of them. How do you stand up to your idol? How do you stand up to somebody who you've admired for so long, who's the reason -- in my mind -- she got into journalism? So I think that it's only going to build their relationship even more, because hopefully Lois does see that -- above anything -- that Chrissy does have what it takes to be that journalist.

For the most part, Chrissy has been pretty separate from the rest of the cast, with Lois being the notable exception. Which other character would you love to see Chrissy interact with more and why?

I love the fact that Chrissy has had moments with Lana and she has had moments with Clark. I would like to see more interactions with Lana Lang, with Emmanuelle [Chriqui]'s character, honestly. I mean, it's so wild -- I can't believe I don't have an absolute answer to this question because she is so a part of this community, and yet she's kind of a step back. So I really loved the scene that she had with Lana in the Gazette, and I really think it would be very cool to continue on that track.

They're both so invested in Smallville. I'm sure they'd have lots to talk about.

Yeah, I think so too. I think so too. I appreciate their energy together. I think that would be really fun.

As Chrissy pointed out in this week's episode, Smallville is really changing in the wake of Morgan Edge's attack. Where does she fit into this new, post-Edge town?

Well, I think that in any small town -- really, anywhere -- community is is such a huge thing. I think at the end of the day, it's this idea that, well, if all we have is each other, we need to really band together. I think this post-Morgan Edge world has created a bit of a divide, and everyone is trying to find somebody to blame, when what really should be happening is that everybody should be banding together.

I think that Chrissy is finding that what's so important is making sure that Smallville stands together and stays together as best as they can, when faced with something as catastrophic as post-Morgan Edge, you know? So it's almost like doubling down on something that you really care about and not walking away from it because it means so much to you.

You cannot remove yourself from Smallville, because Smallville becomes a part of your identity. These people all influence the things that you do and really makes your heart growth so much bigger that you can't you can't leave, you know? It's a part of you to your core.

What is one moment or scene from the remaining episodes that you cannot wait for fans to see?

I mean, I guess bouncing off the my last response, it would have to be the epic camaraderie of Smallville, of just this group of people really holding each other down. That has been something that I've loved throughout the season, and something that I'm so proud of throughout these last two episodes.

What are you most excited to bring to Chrissy's character in Season 2? What would be your dream story arc for her?

My dream for Chrissy! Oh my god. Well, I would love to delve more into her backstory and how she got to where she is right now. But I can't wait to see her really taking more of a charge in the Gazette and making it this pinnacle of Smallville. I think that's my dream, and I think that's Chrissy's dream too.

Have you spoken to any of the writers about Chrissy's direction in Season 2?

I haven't been yet. But throughout the season, I've just been dreaming about it and talking about it. Right now, I'm just excited for really wherever it goes. I mean, I'm a Chrissy fan outside of being able to play her. So whatever happens, I'm there and I'm game.
