The following contains spoilers for Superman & Lois Season 2, now streaming on The CW app.

For fans curious about where the characters from The CW's Superman & Lois first appeared in the comics, DC has provided the answers.

Superman's official Twitter account shared a thread titled "Superman & Lois: Page to Screen," which compared the cast of Season 2 to their comic book counterparts. "Their histories go deeper than you might think!" the caption read. The thread included Bizarro, portrayed by Tyler Hoechlin in the series (who also stars as Superman/Clark Kent); Natalie Irons, portrayed by Tayler Buck; Ally Alston/Parasite, played by Rya Kihlstedt; and Tal-Rho/Morgan Edge, who is portrayed by Adam Rayner.

The thread also revealed the dates of origin for each hero and villain, with Bizarro debuting in 1958, Nat Irons in 1994, and Ally Alston (referred to as Alexandra Alston) in 2004. While Morgan Edge debuted in DC Comics in 1970, his identity as Superman's Kryptonian half-brother Tal-Rho is an original character for the series.

Season 2 of Superman & Lois saw Clark, Lois and their family deal with the emergence of two figures: Bizarro, an alternate version of Kal-El, and Alston, a cult leader who Lois exposed years ago. Early episodes suggested the former was Doomsday since he first appeared wearing Doomsday's Death of Superman suit. However, it's eventually revealed that Bizarro wanted to stop Ally, whose alternate self had grown all-powerful on his Bizarro-Earth. The Kent family also had to contend with the arrival of John Henry Irons' daughter, Natalie, whom he fathered with Lois Lane in his alternate dimension.

Season 2, Episode 15, "Waiting For Superman" concluded with Superman managing to stop Ally and her inverse doppelganger from merging both Earths together and gaining greater power. However, the finale also revealed that everything on the show existed in its own timeline, thereby detaching Superman & Lois' continuity from the wider Arrowverse post-Crisis on Infinite Earths. This reveal comes after multiple Arrowverse shows like Batwoman and DC's Legends of Tomorrow were canceled, while Supergirl -- the show where Hoechlin's Superman originated from -- concluded in 2021. Of the remaining DC shows on The CW, only The Flash still exists in the primary timeline, with Stargirl, like Superman & Lois, taking place in a parallel universe.

Showrunner Todd Helbing has previously explained that, as Superman & Lois continued to stray from the Arrowverse storylines in the first two seasons, having the show set on a different planet "felt more honest." "Unfortunately, now that these other shows are no longer going to be on the air, it just didn’t feel like it was gonna be rewarding," he explained. "I’m sure there’s gonna be some fans out there that are upset. I totally understand, but I think the decision was just made to keep our show on a different planet and do the best we can."

Season 3 of Superman & Lois does not yet have a release date.
