The Bold and the Beautiful star Pierson Fodé is reportedly in the running for the coveted role of Clark Kent/Superman in James Gunn's upcoming reboot film, Superman: Legacy.

Per Variety, sources have indicated that Fodé is being eyed for the title role in the DC Universe reboot after the 31-year-old actor sent in a self-tape, which "included a montage of footage showing his very Clark Kent-like childhood on a farm in the small town of Moses Lake, Wash." Gunn reportedly "liked what he saw." Fodé is perhaps best known for playing Thomas Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful from 2015 to 2018. His credits also include The Man From Toronto, Supergirl, The Real Bros of Simi Valley and It's Time.

At this time, no casting has been announced for Superman: Legacy, which will be the first Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters film released in the DCU after the upcoming The Flash resets the timeline. Fodé was not among the names listed in a May 2023 casting report for Legacy, which considered Pearl actor David Corenswet a top contender to play the DCU's new Man of Steel while X-Men star Nicholas Hoult is reportedly the top choice for Lex Luthor.

As for Lois Lane, the world-renowned Daily Planet reporter and long-term love interest of Clark Kent, Sex Education actor Emma Mackey, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan, Bridgerton actor Phoebe Dynevor and Ready or Not star Samara Weaving were all reportedly being eyed for the role. While Gunn did address the casting report, he refused to confirm or debunk any names since that was "the actor’s business only & isn’t something I’d make public unless they did it first after the fact."

Superman: Legacy Is in Pre-Production

Gunn announced in April 2023 that pre-production had commenced on Legacy ahead of a 2024 filming start date. "Costumes, production design, and more now up and running," wrote Gunn on Twitter. While plot details remain under wraps for the highly-anticipated film, Gunn previously confirmed that Legacy will be centered around Superman's heritage, with the film exploring how "both his aristocratic Kryptonian parents and his Kansas farmer parents inform who he is and the choices he makes."

Why Is James Gunn Leading DC Studios?

In addition to writing and directing Superman: Legacy, Gunn is overseeing the creative side of DC Studios as its co-chair and co-CEO, with Peter Safran handling the financial side of the business. In a recent interview, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav opened up about why Gunn was entrusted with rebuilding the DC Universe. Zaslav explained that the filmmaker’s dedication to his craft and personal connection to DC were the reasons that convinced the company that Gunn was the right one for the job. "[Gunn] grew up his whole life with DC, his whole life with these DC characters and he knows every one of them, they're his family. He just wrote Superman, which I read," he said. "This is the guy we want and everybody wants to work with him."

Superman: Legacy opens in theaters on July 11, 2025.
