The following contains spoilers for Action Comics #1050, on sale now from DC Comics.

Action Comics #1050 gives the Man of Steel his secret identity back and the revelation of learning Clark Kent is Superman nearly kills Perry White.

Action Comics #1050 comes from writers Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Tom Taylor and Joshua Williamson, artists Mike Perkins, Clayton Henry and Nick Dragotta, colorist Frank Martin and letterer Dave Sharpe. In the anniversary issue, Lex Luthor uses Manchester Black's telepathic abilities to make everyone forget that Clark and Jon Kent are Superman. The only people who now know their secret are Lois Lane, Jay Nakamura, Pa and Ma Kent and those who had psychic defenses set up by Martian Manhunter, including the Justice League, Reservists and Teen Titans.

Superman's Secret Identity Nearly Killed One of His Closest Friends

Clark learns about Luthor's mind wipe only after he and Jon return home from preventing an emergency in India. Stepping into Pa and Ma Kent's home while still wearing their costume, they find Jonathan, Martha, Lois, Jay and Perry White waiting for them in the dining room. Perry, however, immediately panics when he sees Superman and questions what happened to Clark. When a confused Superman attempts to explain he is Clark, Perry collapses on the floor. Perry is then rushed to the hospital, where it's revealed he had a minor stroke but now appears to be in stable condition.

The DC Universe Will Have a Hard Time Accepting Clark Kent Is Superman

Batman/Bruce Wayne later explains to Clark that Perry's reaction is to be expected given how Lex's plan with Manchester Black played out. "It's not just that people have forgotten who you are," he tells the Man of Steel. "The suggestion is so strong that it extends to any images or other media people see. If it contradicts what their mind is telling them, they reject it." Clark slowly begins coming to terms that this is what his life is now -- a reality he can perhaps accept before his thoughts turn to his son. Jon, however, appears to love having a secret identity, as he proudly declares it's "perfect" not being recognized by everyone.
