Amazon's animated adaptation of the Invincible comic book saga has prompted viewers worldwide to imagine what a live-action series might look like. One fan used their 3D modeling skills to cast Superman actor Henry Cavill in the role of Invincible's father, mentor and eventual antagonist, the ultra-powerful Omni-Man.

In the first season of the Invincible Amazon series, Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man is voiced by J.K. Simmons, an actor best known for his roles as J. Jonah Jameson in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy and instructor Terrence Fletcher in the Academy Award-winning Whiplash. However, a 3D model from artist Joel Torres imagines a live-action version of Omni-Man with a different actor in the role. The fan art depicts an Omni-Man played by Cavill, famed for portraying Clark Kent/Superman in the DC Extended Universe since 2013's Man of Steel.

Torres' art trades Cavill's Superman suit for the imposing red-and-white outfit of Omni-Man. And unlike 2017's Justice League, which digitally removed a mustache Cavill grew for his part in 2018's Mission: Impossible - Fallout, the fan art embraces the facial hair, which Omni-Man famously sports.

In Invincible, Omni-Man shares more than a few parallels with the Man of Steel. Both characters are aliens sent to Earth from their respective far-away planets. Both share the powers of super-strength, super-speed, flight and enhanced durability, and both wear costumes with bright colors, capes and single-letter logos on their chests. The casting of Cavill as a live-action Omni-Man would add yet another connection between the characters, drawing further attention to their similarities and differences.

After his debut appearance as Superman in Man of Steel, Cavill reprised his role for two additional DCEU films: 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the following year's Justice League, which saw its reimagining in 2021 in the form of Zack Snyder's Justice League on HBO Max. While the actor hasn't donned the Kryptonian's cape in a while, Cavill wants to play Superman again, recently stating, "There is still a lot of storytelling for me to do as a Superman, and I would absolutely love the opportunity."

Written by Robert Kirkman and illustrated by Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, the Invincible comic book series tells a coming-of-age superhero story starring Mark Grayson/Invincible, son of Viltrumite Omni-Man, the most powerful person on Earth. The first season of the animated series premiered on Amazon Prime in 2021, garnering immense popularity and critical acclaim. Amazon is currently producing a second season of Invincible and has already ordered a third.

Season 1 of Invincible is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
